Connecting Learners to High-Wage Career Pathways 

Lorain County JVS Adult Career Center is now accepting enrollments for its Automation Maintenance Technician program starting Fall 2025. This hands-on, evening training prepares adult learners for in-demand careers in Ohio’s advanced manufacturing and logistics sector, aligning directly with growing employer needs. 

Context & Economic Relevance: 

• Ohio’s robust manufacturing economy is built on a skilled labor force. The state ranks among the top three in the nation for its manufacturing workforce, with over 687,000 jobs, accounting for 5.3% of the entire U.S. manufacturing workforce. 

• Through its strategic partnerships and economic initiatives, JobsOhio supports 10 critical sectors that represent 22% of all Ohio jobs, 36% of GSP, and 29% of payrolls. 

• Ohio also ranks #2 nationwide for new economic development projects over the past decade—over half tied to manufacturing. 

• Northeast Ohio’s regional development engine, Team NEO, accelerates equitable growth across sectors like advanced manufacturing, bio-health, and logistics. 

Lorain County Growth: 

• The county’s population continues to rise: from approximately 312,964 in 2020 to 317,910 in 2023, with an estimated 321,668 in 2025—a 0.59% increase year over year. 

• Since 2000, Lorain County’s population grew by about 6.7%, signaling long-term upward momentum.

Program Highlights  

Evening & Accessible Training 

• Convenient classes Monday–Wednesday, 4:00–9:30 PM—perfect for working adults balancing life and career. 

Hands-on, Employer-Aligned Curriculum 

• ~600 hours of immersive training geared to real-world industry systems. 

• Earn stackable credentials: MSSC Equipment Maintenance (CTSCA-EM), Equipment Repair (CTSCA-ER), MSSC Network Repair (CTSCA-NR), and OSHA 30 (General Industry). 

Accredited & Responsive to Workforce Needs 

• Career Development (CD) program approved by the Council on Occupational Education (COE). 

• Partners with the Lorain County Workforce Development Agency in initiatives like Work Ready Lorain County, aligning education with local business strategies.

• Program Cost: $7,160 

• Materials Fee: $300 (textbooks & e-learning modules)
